Dre saw a vacant lot full of weeds and broken glass on our block. Instead of waiting on the city, he brought a shovel. Three months later we had tomatoes, peppers, and a whole block that came back to life around a garden.
Dre doesn't call himself a hope dealer — but every kid who picks a tomato off the vine on our street knows he is. He needs soil, tools, irrigation, and a shed to keep the garden going year-round.
